Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY LARSON (nee BILLAN) With her family by her side, on Friday, December 23, 2005, at the Lions Prairie Manor, Mary Larson of Portage la Prairie, widow of the late Kenneth Larson passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years. The memorial service in celebration of her life will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Friday, December 30 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ross Taylor officiating. A private interment will take place in the family lot at Hillside cemetery at a later date. Mary was born on August 12, 1914 daughter of Peter and Dora Billan at Gull Lake, MB. She received her education in Brodie School (Stead). Her father passed away in 1924. At the age of 13, Mary moved to Winnipeg where she was employed as a domestic helper for several years. Mary was later employed as a seamstress at the Supercraft Sewing Factory and Sterling Cloak. In 1943 she married Kenneth Larson. They resided in Winnipeg until 1947, when they moved to a farm in the Currie School District south of MacGregor where they farmed for 40 years and raised their family of four sons. In 1987 they retired to Portage la Prairie. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Mary was a woman of strength. She was a very gentle soul who was inspiring to all her friends and family. Mary was very sociable and enjoyed being around others. She was always there to listen. Mary was always thinking of others and giving to those in need. She will be remembered and missed by all who had the blessing of being a part of her life. Predeceased by her father Peter; her mother Dora; her husband Kenneth in 1990; two brothers, Henry and Nicholas; four sisters, Anna, Katherine, Anastasia (Nellie) and Tena; she leaves to mourn her passing, her four sons, Larry (Elizabeth) of Poplar Point, Sanford of Sidney, Australia, Brian (Barbara) of Winnipeg and Danny (Peggy) of Portage la Prairie; her grandchildren, Samantha, Laura, David, Daniel, Tamara and Ashley; and her great-grandchildren, Kris-Jon, Bralen and Shealyn. Mary gave to many charities, and in turn, the family requests donations to the local charity of your choice in her memory.
