GERTRUDE (TRUDY) DUECK It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Trudy on Monday, December 26, 2005 at the Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home at the age of 85 years. Remaining to forever cherish Mom's memory are her two children, Vern (Sandra) and Melaney (Ken); and grandchildren, Meagan, Matthew, Hayley (Jay) and Michael. She was predeceased by her first husband Tony; son Leon; and second husband Frank. Mom was born near Altona and raised on a farm as one of twelve children. After marrying Tony in 1941, they settled in Gretna where they raised their family. After Tony's passing, she moved to Winnipeg and later married Frank. Many happy years were spent in Bethel Place, where she enjoyed the support and companionship of many good friends. Mom's family was very important to her. She cherished the time spent with them and especially looked forward to seeing her grandchildren. Mom was also very close to her siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews. Her home was always open to friends and family. Who could forget her homemade brown bread? Mom was a creative person. She loved handmade items and many people were the recipients of her special cards. Her kind and soft spoken gentle nature was demonstrated through her volunteer work at Bethel Place, Mennonite Central Committee and the Church. Music was also an important part of her life. She attended many concerts, sang in choirs and passed the love of music on to her children and grandchildren. In spite of her failing health, her faith remained strong. Through her relationship with God she found strength and encouragement. On Friday, December 30 at 10:30 a.m., Trudy's funeral service will be held in Bethel Mennonite Church, 870 Carter Avenue with Rev. Rudy Baergen officiating. Interment will be held in Gretna Cemetery, Gretna, MB. Special thanks to the devoted staff and volunteers of Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Trudy's memory to the Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9. Trudy's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
