LOUISE TIU-MOI TOY (nee LOUIE) (October 18, 1912 - December 26, 2005) It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Louise Toy (nee Louie) on December 26, 2005 at Poseidon Care Centre. Louise was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Tom Soon Toy; and two infant twin grandsons, Elliot and Everett Chan. She will be lovingly remembered by her family, two daughters, Betty Shui-Har Wong (Chi-Loong) and Helen Louise Chan (Yiu-Kwok); grandsons, Terry Wong (Nancy Pan) and Ted Wong (fiancee Mary Ho); granddaughter Deanna Wong (Greg Payne); and great-granddaughters, Rhiannon, Danika and Kira Wong. Louise will also be greatly missed by her many relatives and friends across Canada, the United States and China. Louise was born in Toi Shan (Taishan), Guangdong, China. She came to Canada in 1950 and worked diligently alongside her husband in the family restaurant and grocery businesses in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, formally retiring in 1962. Louise was very passionate about life. She took great pleasure in cooking feasts for her family and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Exceptionally devoted to her family, she always wholeheartedly supported and loved them all. She was also an avid gardener, a master knitter, a Cantonese opera buff and a hockey fan. During the 10 years she lived at Sek On Toi seniors' residence, she enjoyed companionship and the regular chance to exercise her skills as a mahjong player. She had the deepest spiritual respect for the joy and beauty of life and gave unconditional love to others. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Poseidon Care Centre, whose patience and compassion for her went well beyond their regular duties. Their excellent care for her was of great comfort to the family. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Mrs. Louise Toy's memory to Sek On Toi, 289 Pacific Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 3B7, or to the Manitoba Academy of Chinese Studies, P.O. Box 1415, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0J0, or a charity of their choice. Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Louise's life. A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, December 30 in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. with Norman Toy officiating. Interment will follow at St. Vital Cemetery.
