ASTA HALLDORA (DORA) FRIDFINNSON (nee FINNSON) It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Dora, beloved wife of Numi Fridfinnson on Wednesday, December 28, 2005. Dora was born February 7, 1932 in Arborg, MB to Fridrik and Helga Finnson. After graduating from high school in Arborg she attended Normal School and received a teaching certificate. Dora taught at Laufas and Vestri Schools before marrying Numi in 1953. Together Dora and Numi farmed and raised their five children in the Arborg area. Dora felt very fortunate to be blessed with a large loving family, the support and friendship of the community and the Lutheran Church. She took special pride and interest in the lives and accomplishments of her grandchildren. Amma always took the time to share a game of cards, a storybook or an evening stroll. Dora was a compassionate woman concerned about the well being of the people of her community, her country and the world. Her beliefs became action through her involvement in such organizations as the NDP, the Youth Justice Committee, the Evangelical Lutheran Women (ELW) the Lutheran Church, at both the local and synod level, the Geysir Ladies Aide, the Arborg Figure Skating Club, the Arborg Skating Rink Board, the local Agricultural Society and as a 4-H leader. Dora enjoyed good health to the age of 69 years. She had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed travel and new experiences. She will always be remembered as a person who took great pleasure from all the small as well as the big events in her life. She took as much pleasure as possible from life whether it was the arrival of a new grandchild, the first crocus of spring, or a hockey game well played. Dora was predeceased by her parents Fridrik and Helga Finnson, her sister Kristin Magnusson, her brother Kristjon Finnson, and her two grandchildren Sarah and Louise. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Numi; her children, Eric (Debbie), Ross (Mary Lynn), Brian (Heather), Jennifer (Mike) and Elan (Joel); her grandchildren, Davian (Brock), Jeffry, Chantal, Alexandra, Joseph, Carolyn, Brooke, Joel, Leif, Laura, Stefan, Stephanie, Freyja, Samuel, Mark, Benjamin, William and Natasha. She will be sadly missed by her brother Tryggvi (Anna) Finnson, her sisters Hilda (Morris) McPhail and Carol Finnson and daughter-in-law Donnie Fridfinnson. A memorial service will be held at the Ardal-Geysir Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wednesday, January 4 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Dora at the Ardal-Geysir Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Arborg Personal Care Home. Our family would like to extend our heart felt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Home Care, the Arborg Hospital and the Arborg Personal Care Home for the kindness, the dedication, and the quality of care extended to Dora during her illness.
