MAE NICHOLS (nee GARRITY) On December 27, 2005, an extraordinary woman passed away after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Eriksdale, MB. Mae moved as a very small child to Winnipeg, a city she loved with all her heart. Mae moved to Edmonton in the early 60s and grew to love this city with a passion. She was a long time Woodward's then Eaton's employee and proud of it. In her retirement, she remained active; running Mae's Mini Donuts with her best friend and husband Arthur Nichols. She loved small town Alberta and the wonderful people she met there. A beautiful woman, she lived life her way with style and class. She loved animals and fed the pigeons and feral cats daily even in 40 below weather. She loved to sit in the top row of the grandstand at Northlands Park and watch the horses, ducks, and geese. You're in the top row now Mom. She is survived by her devoted husband, Arthur Nichols. One son Donald Nichols; one daughter Donna (Peter) Bennell. The light of her life grandchildren, Sydney, Arthur, Nicholas Bennell. Brothers, Roger, Pat, Raymond, Jackie, Robert, Brian and Jimmy Garrity and their families, and her cherished sister Kay Garrity. In keeping with Mae's wishes, a private service for immediate family will be held December 30 in Edmonton, AB. Donations to a charity of one's choice.
