ADELAINE MARGARET BYERS August 9, 1909 - December 22, 2005 Adelaine was predeceased by her husband Gordon, her sister Dolores and her husband Phil Lawler, and her sister Audrey and her husband Lud Horn. She is survived by her nephew Phil Lawler and his family in California and her niece Beverly Horn in Winnipeg. Adelaine was a born caregiver. She was very proud of her many years of service as a volunteer at Concordia hospital, a labour of love which she relinquished to help care for her sister Audrey who was afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease. After Audrey's death in 1995 she transferred her care to her brother-in-law Lud when his health began to fail. She cared for Lud until his death in 1998. She valued her independence and was grateful to the wonderful Home Care Workers of the River East whose care and help allowed her to remain in her own home until the autumn of 2004 when her arthritis finally restricted her mobility. She really appreciated the attention that she received from her girls . Her final year was spent, first at Thorvaldson Intermediate Care Facility and more recently at Pembina Place Personal Care Home. I want to thank the staff at both facilities for the care and attention that they paid to Adelaine. Following her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service.
