Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS LENNART SIMONSON Passed away suddenly on December 22, 2005 at Nanaimo, BC. Doug was born January 29, 1940 in Winnipeg, MB. He grew up and attended school in Woodlands, MB. Doug joined the R.C.M.P. in 1959, serving a full career of 28 years with postings in Hope, Prince Rupert, Williams Lake, Burnaby, Qualicum Beach, Port Alberni, Lytton, 100 Mile House and Nanaimo, BC. Doug's life was enriched by his love of sports. He was always ready to play baseball, hockey, or golf with young and old alike. His Manitoba family and friends looked forward to his frequent visits Home . Doug was predeceased by his parents, Torger and Martha Simonson and nephew Wesley Hannah. He is survived by loving wife Sherry, daughter Brenda, sons Duane and Todd, grandchildren Tyler, Jolaine, Maddy and Emma of Nanaimo, brothers Ted (Joy) of Winnipeg, Carl (Edie) of Gimli, MB, Gordon (Peggi) of Delta, BC, Gary of Meadows, MB, Lloyd (Betty) of Woodlands, MB and sisters Astrid (Fred) Procter of Woodlands, Dorothy (Ken Belbin) of Grosse Isle, MB and Viola (Alvar) Mellegard of Sweden and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A celebration of Doug's life will be held at Sands Funeral Home, 1 Newcastle Ave., Nanaimo, BC at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2006 with a reception to follow at the Lantzville Legion at 7227 - Lantzville Rd. at 3:00 p.m. Doug was a very special person who touched the lives of all that knew him. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and his many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice.
