MARY VIOLA MAE BARNETT (MAE BARNETT) (nee SABISTON) February 18, 1926 - December 27, 2005 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister at the age of 79. Mom passed away peacefully after a lengthy hard-fought illness. Mom will be greatly missed and remembered by her ten children, Tom (Marlyne), Donna, Wayne (Irma), Ken (Linda), Mike, Shirley (Dave), Rob (Sherry), Gail (Greg), Sean, Carey (Cherie); Mom's 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mom will be missed by her ten brothers and sisters, Pearl, Franklin, Edwin, Verna (Roy), Shirley (Ron), Ethel, Emma, Diane (Doug), Sandi, and Dell. Also by her sisters/brothers-in-law, Don (Jackie), Ted (Leslie), Millie (Bill), Diane (Doug), Yvonne, and Bob and many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband William Barnett on March 20, 2005, and her parents, Ingebjorg and Peter Sabiston; her in-laws, John, Clarence, Carson, Tommy, Frank (Elaine), Herb, Lillian (Ron), Helen, and Kae. Mom stepped in as the primary care giver to her siblings at the age of 12 years old, after her mother passed away due to complications of childbirth. Mom raised seven brothers and sisters, including newborn twin sisters. At the age of 20 years, Mom met Dad, married, and together raised ten children, along with many foster children. She loved her family immensely and spent many happy years with them, residing in Morse Place. Mom worked very hard throughout her life; she enjoyed sewing and worked for various garment industries, mainly Richlu Industries. Mom enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family. These times were spent going on camping trips and travelling. She enjoyed the holidays, and having her family all together. Mom loved baking her mincemeat pies and her Christmas puddings that we all loved so much. Memorial service will take place on Monday, January 2, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. Mom's interment with her loving husband, William, will take place in early spring. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Variety Heart Centre at 685 William Ave., 787-2410 or CancerCare Manitoba at 675 McDermot Ave., 787-4143.
