Born: Nov 01, 1955
Date of Passing: Dec 28, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCOLLEEN SUSANNE ROBERTSON (nee STANTON) Peacefully, at home, on Wednesday, December 28, 2005, Colleen Susanne Robertson, passed away. For a girl given little chance to see 35, Colleen celebrated her 50th birthday on ALL SAINTS DAY...November 1. Colleen was predeceased by her father John Edward Stanton and her younger brother David and her dear friend Pamela Smith. She will be forever loved and remembered by her families The Stantons and The Robertsons. She leaves behind her husband of 33 years, John; four children, three sons, John Jr. (Zandra), Donald (Stephanie), Rob and daughter Ricki; along with four grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Eric and Mila. Colleen leaves to mourn her loving and dearest mom (Delorus); four grieving and adoring sisters, Marilyn, Arlene (Gerry), Jackie (Paul) and Jody; also her close and loving brother Steven. Colleen will also be mourned by the mother of our grandsons, Sherry (Ryan). With so many relatives within our families, inclusive of well over a hundred nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the loss of our Colleen is so very hard to take. We simply came to expect that Colleen would continue to defy the odds, as she had done so often, over these past 15 years. Colleen was born in Brandon on November 1, 1955. She attended many schools amongst which were Earl Grey and Kelvin High. She met John at the age of 17, saying, I do to John and his two baby boys. Colleen lived for all others. She had the ability to caringly and compassionately listen without passing judgment. She was EVERYONE'S best friend! If you were sad, Colleen would make you happy! With so many good memories of Colleen to cherish, this most beautiful lady, a lady that had so many nurses clamouring to look after her, both in Winnipeg and London, has lived her life in a manner that God has now chosen to reward. She will no longer be weak, she will no longer be cold and she will no longer be tired. She has given of herself, to all who knew and loved her. We are all better, because of her! God gave us Colleen when we needed an angel in our lives. God has now called his ANGEL home. Hold her tightly Dear Lord and forever keep her warm and waiting for all of us. Viewing will be held on Sunday, January 1, 2006 between 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the E. J. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. Funeral mass will take place on Monday, January 2 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Ignatius Church, corner of Stafford and Corydon, with Fr. Art Seaman, friend of the family officiating. Reception will follow in church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Colleen's memory to the Children's Hospital, CE 501, 840 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
