GARY MORLEY CONNER It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Gary Morley Conner announces his passing on December 22, 2005. Gary was born February 24, 1948 in Athabasca, AB to Delmar and Eleanor Conner. His family then moved to Dauphin, MB in 1952 and farmed there until 1960. In 1960 they moved to Cypress River, MB where Gary resided until he moved to Winnipeg in 1968. In Winnipeg he worked for CN until 1974 and then was relocated to The Pas, MB where he continued to work for CN until 1978. In 1978 he moved back to Winnipeg and assumed an instructor position with Red River Community College until 1990. At that time he moved to Minnedosa, MB. For the next nine years he owned the Gateway Motel and then went to work at Assiniboine Community College in 2003 as an instructor for the Industrial Welder Apprentice course. Gary was with ACC until the time of his death. Gary was very active in the Masons. He joined the fraternity in 1975 in the Pas, MB. Throughout the years he held various positions in the lodge in the towns where he resided and at the time of his death he was D.D.G.M. of the Fifth Masonic District. Gary also was a member of the Khartum Shrine. He joined the shrine in 1977. He was an avid supporter of the Circus Daddy Club. Gary loved the outdoors and had a great sense of adventure, whether it was hunting, fishing, canoeing, scuba diving or just going for a walk in the woods with his best friend, his yellow lab (Sadie). Gary's greatest love was flying. When Gary lived in Dauphin, at the age of 10, a pilot took him for flight and Gary was hooked for life. He obtained is private pilot's license in 1967 and had been flying ever since. Gary took great joy in taking other people for rides in his plane, especially if it was their first introduction to flying in a small aircraft. He just loved to see other people's enthusiasm. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Caroline: his daughter Jacqueline Conner; grandson Tyler Olson; two sisters: Elaine (Wally) Meloche, Lois (Garry) Mardling; cousins: Bruce (Susan) Conner, Fr. Paul Conner; mother-in-law Mary Sidof; brothers-in-law: Albert (Shirley) Sidof, Robert (Deanna) Sidof, and numerous nephews and nieces. Gary is predeceased by his grandfather John Wesley Conner; grandmother Grayce Conner; father Delmar Conner; mother Eleanor Conner; son Paul Conner, and father-in-law Alexander Sidof. A Masonic memorial service to commemorate Gary's life will be held at Memories Chapel, 34-3rd Ave., SW, Minnedosa MB on Saturday January 7 at 1:00 pm. R.W. Bro. John C. James officiating.
