WALTER (LORNE) MCGORMAN Surrounded by his family, it is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Lorne McGorman, age 80 years, on Saturday, December 31, 2005. Lorne is missed by his wife Helen Potter of nine years. His daughters, Donna Fuller, Bunnie (Denis) Dupras, Pat McGorman, and his son Tim (Kathy) McGorman will cherish their beautiful memories of their Dad. Loving Grampa of Tracey (Peter) Allerton, Sean Fuller (Paula Evaskavich), Jason (Marilyne) Dupras, Denise Dupras (Dereck), Jeff Pradinuk (Rachael) and Kristyn, Scott and Jaclyn McGorman. Sadly missed by his son-in-law Barry Pradinuk. Great-Grampa to Robert Shymkiw, Nicholas and Brendon Dupras, and Trevor and Kyra Allerton. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sister Connie Studer, brothers/sisters-in-law Ross Freeman, Roy (Wendy) McFadyen, Joyce (Don) Ritchie, Verla (Bruce) Vann, and Shirley Birch and their families. Lorne was predeceased by his beautiful wife of 45 years, Audrey, in January 1992. Lorne was one of seven children born to Walter and Ida McGorman on March 25, 1925 in Eden, MB. His early years were spent farming on the family farm in and around the Neepawa area. Lorne and Audrey were married on June 28, 1946 and began their wonderful life together. He was prepared to defend his country and enlisted in the Army during WWII. In 1953, Lorne and Audrey moved to Winnipeg, where they settled in Weston to raise their family. At this time, he also started working for Subterranean Ltd. until his retirement in 1990. Lorne was fortunate to have found love and companionship again when he met Helen and devoted his later years to her daily care and comfort. Dad lived for his family. Near or far, he was always there for his children. We always felt his love and support in whatever we did. He cherished his grandchildren and was proud of them. He always gave the best hugs and kisses. With a twinkle in his eye, he enjoyed teasing us all and making us laugh. His gifts to us were plentiful - love, loyalty, generosity, and laughter. So many memories of treasured times to relive with joy and we are eternally grateful to him for being such a wonderful Dad and Grampa. Dad enjoyed boisterous family gatherings and took great delight trumping everyone while playing numerous card games. To meet Dad, was to have gained a friend for life. He will be remembered for his love of animals - no animal ever went hungry around Dad. Many lakes echo the sound of laughter from grand fishing adventures Dad had with the boys over the years. Much like with his family, he nurtured his floral and vegetable gardens and watched them grow and flourish. We will miss the taste of his maple fudge and Christmas cake, as those were a few of many treats he enjoyed making. Family member, friend or stranger, he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Dad wore the name of McGorman with integrity and honour. In memory of Lorne, flowers are welcomed or donations can be made to the Neepawa Hospital Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2006 in Winnipeg, 7:30 p.m. at the Gordon-King Memorial United Church (127 Cobourg Ave.) Funeral services will be held in Neepawa on Friday, January 6, 2:00 p.m. at the Neepawa United Church (475 Mountain Ave). Reverend Joe Ball will be officiating at both services. Pallbearers are his son Tim and grandchildren Tracey, Sean, Jason, Denise, Kyle, Jeff, Kristyn, Scott and Jaclyn. We are grateful for the compassionate care of Dad by the Nurses and Drs. White and Potker at the Neepawa Memorial Hospital. Our heartfelt appreciation to Shirley Birch, Brenda Madill, Jim Lindsay, Beth McDonald and Reverend Joe Ball for what they have done for Dad and our family. Our family has been very blessed with the tremendous support from our families, friends and co-workers. We love you so much Dad and Grampa - you are greatly missed. You will be forever remembered in our hearts. White's Funeral Home Neepawa-Carberry in care of arrangments. (204) 476-2848

I chanced on this obituary and thought I would make contact with some of my relatives. I did know the senior Walter when I was a very young girl. I hope that this message reaches somebody in the McGorman family. - Posted by: Shirley Lant nee McGorman (daughter of James McGorman & Jean Ritchie Jim was a younger brother of Walter (Ida)) on: Feb 25, 2014
