ALEXANDER WILLIAM INGLIS Peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2005 at the Portage District General Hospital Uncle Al passed away at the age of 85. Uncle Al was predeceased by his loving wife Edith (November 3rd, 2005), his parents Jim Christiana Inglis, brothers Ron and Jim. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Uncle Al was born March 29th, 1920 at the Portage General Hospital. He left Portage la Prairie when he was 17 to go to work in Winnipeg. He worked in construction and then went to work for the T. Eaton Company where he worked until he retired. He started working in the stables then deliveries with the horse teams and then the modern day delivery trucks. When Uncle Al retired from the T. Eaton Company he had worked his way up to the supervisor of shipping. He married Edith Birse on September 11, 1954 and they resided in Winnipeg. Uncle Al Aunt Edith enjoyed the great outdoors. They bought their first cabin at Star Lake then moved on to a cabin at Moose Lake. They would spend all their weekends at the lake while both still working in Winnipeg. Summer time was for boating, winter time was for snowmobiling and Uncle Al Aunt Edith would spend many hours touring the lake and area. Their last cabin was at Arnes. They loved travelling to Mesa, Arizona for 30 years where they made many lasting friendships. They moved to Dalton Grove Estates in Portage la Prairie On June 14th, 2001. Uncle Al enjoyed curling, golfing and dancing until his hip problems wouldn't allow him to do it. Uncle Al always enjoyed a good game of cards. The family would like to thank all the girls from Home Care, the hospital staff on Medical and the Extended Care Unit of the Portage District General Hospital for all their loving care of both Uncle Al and Aunt Edith. Thank you to all their new friends at Dalton Grove Estates for the visits at the hospital and Lions Prairie Manor. The family would like to send a very special Thank You to Roy Snaith for his friendship and support. A private family service will be held for both Uncle Al and Aunt Edith at a later date.
