THOMAS HOFER September 20, 1945 - December 29, 2005 It is with great sadness the family of Thomas Hofer announces his peaceful passing. Thomas battled his disease, but God had other plans for him. Tom leaves to mourn his wife Diana of 20 years; his brothers and sisters, Paul (Katie), Sarah (Bruce), Lena (Bill), Katie (Simon), Susie (Chris), Joe (Irene), Judy (Dick), Becky, Ann, Dave (Mary), Hannah (Ralph) and Lisa (Ed) as well as many nieces, nephews and daughter Melanie. Tom was predeceased by his Dad Paul S. Hofer on March 18, 1999; and his Mom Susie Hofer on August 16, 2003. Tom was born in Portage la Prairie, where he lived until approximately the age of 15. From then he travelled around for a few years before settling at General Scrap where he met Sam Lazareck and decided this is where he belonged. Tommy was a very amazing person. He cared about everything and everybody. His work at General Scrap as Manager - Operations, seemed to override his personal life at times, but those who knew him accepted his decisions. When he had free hours he loved his country home with the dogs, ski-doing, quadding and cutting grass. Then he could sit around his home, have a beer and B.S. with his friends yet still manage to spend quality time with his wife Diana. Tommy will be sadly missed by a great many people for a great many reasons. The family wishes to extend their thanks to family and friends for their care and concern, help and hope, especially Jack and Mel Lazareck, Debbie, Jack and Irene, Hannah and Lisa. A special thanks to Jeanine and Larry, you have no idea how much you've helped us. We also wish to thank the Concordia Hospital and their helpful staff, especially Dr. Patricia Harris - THANK YOU so very much. A wake will be held on Thursday, January 5 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 6 at 1:30 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapel, Broadway and Maryland. Interment will follow in St. Vital Cemetery with Jack Gross, Larry Gross, Robert Hofer, Darcy Dorn, Steve Maendel, Lucas MacIntosh and Shane MacIntosh serving as pallbearers. A reception will follow at Klassen Funeral Home. Arrangements in care of: KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson-North of McIvor (204) 338-0331
