ANN HALISCHUK Peacefully on January 2, 2006, Ann passed away at the Health Sciences Centre. Her precious memory will be cherished in the hearts of her children Jim (Kathie), Larry (Helga) and Cory (Kathy), as well as her beloved grandchildren Shannon and Matthew, Lindsay and Melisa and Kyle. She will also be missed by her sisters Stella, Pauline (Albert), Julie (Frank) and brother George (Agnes) and numerous nephews and nieces. Ann was predeceased by her parents Steve and Helen Mandzuk, sisters Florence, Olga and Sally. Ann was born on February 23, 1931 in the R.M. of Fisher. Ann moved to Winnipeg in 1963 and soon found employment at Jackson's Drapery and remained there until her retirement in February 1990. Retirement was filled with her love of organic gardening, cooking and baking for her family of which included her famous perogies, Corn Flake cookies, apple tarts and bread. Her summer months were busy with tending to her large vegetable and flower garden. In the fall she harvested her garden and supplied her family with her wares of vegetables for the freezer and jars of pickles. Christmas was always a joyous time for her in that she busied herself for weeks preparing for Christmas dinner for her family and friends. No sooner were the dishes put away she was making plans for celebrating Ukrainian Christmas. Ann's love and dedication to her family will be missed with her passing but will not be forgotten in their hearts. Thank you to the staff at the Selkirk General Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre (H7 and GA4) for their care. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk on Friday, January 6, at 1:00 p.m. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
