GEORGE DANKOCHIK On January 2, 2006 at the Health Sciences Centre, George Dankochik, aged 84 years, of Camp Morton, MB, beloved husband of the late Lillian Dankochik. George was born in Camp Morton on December 19, 1921, son of the late John and Barbara Dankochik, and had lived and farmed there all his life. Besides farming he had also worked at the Gimli Air Base, owned and operated his own tire shop and also managed the restaurant at the Gimli Hotel. He enjoyed gardening and had a garden every year right up to and including last year. He loved to sit at the kitchen table surrounded by family and enjoyed a good game of cards. George was predeceased by his wife Lillian in 2000; two sons, Danny and Grant; brothers, Mike, John and Joe; and sisters, Mary and Anne. He leaves surviving five sons, Gregory (Heather) of Selkirk, Glen (Kerry) of Winnipeg, Perry and Aaron (Brenda) of Camp Morton and Leroy (Shelly) of Gimli; one daughter Georgelyn of Camp Morton; 12 grandchildren, Sean (LeeAnn), Wellington (Theresa), Meghan, Ashley, Jordan, Brent, Ariel, Brittney, Cole, Cassidy, Tai and Sarah; three great-grandchildren; a sister Bertha Sherwood of Vancouver and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7 at 11:00 a.m. in the Minerva Hall, one mile south of Gimli on Highway No. 8. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gimli Community Health Centre, Box 1710, Gimli, MB R0C 1B0. Special thanks to the staff on the MICU at the Health Sciences Centre and the staff on Emergency at the Gimli Hospital. Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli in care of arrangements.
