WALTER RAY KOZAK (JINGLES) Peacefully in his sleep on December 30, 2005, Walter passed away at the Middlechurch Home at the age of 90. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Mona (Raymond), Cheryl (John) and Sandra (Gerry); grandchildren, Jaimie, Jordon, Alaina, Frazer and Madison; sisters-in-law, Vi and Stella (Roy); nephews, Jim, Robert, Gary and Grant and their families and many friends. Frances, his wife of 53 years, predeceased him in August 2000. Walter was born on September 24, 1915 and raised in Narol on the homestead farm on Henderson Highway. He attended Donald School until 10th grade after which he completed his auto mechanic training in Winnipeg. During his youth Walter delivered the Winnipeg Free Press on bicycle to the Narol, Gonor and St. Andrew's areas. With his savings he purchased his first car at the age of 15 which made it much easier to deliver newspapers for the next four years. Walter operated Lockport Motors Texaco Service Station for many years thereafter. Jingles , as he came to be known, could always be heard happily humming as he worked on cars. Following his marriage to Frances in 1947, his days were filled with helping to raise his three daughters, running the service station and taking over the family farm. In later years, Walter was employed as the shipper at Western Tools Industries and as a bus mechanic with the Lord Selkirk School Division. Upon retirement he became the neighborhood mechanic, helping anyone in need. He continued with market gardening and enjoyed time with his friends at the Narol Senior Centre. Sadly, Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 1999 and resided at Red River Place in Selkirk and the Middlechurch Home until his passing. The family would like to offer special thanks to Maureen and her staff on Deer 2 and Patty on Nighthawks 1 for the exceptional care they gave Dad. We are also appreciative of the continued support of our family and friends over the last few years. Pallbearers will be John Kehler, Gerry Allford, Raymond Moreau, Grant Panchuk, Jordon Yvon-Moreau and Frazer Allford. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Fisher, John Barchyn and Henry Shale. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or to the Middlechurch Home in Walter's memory. The funeral service celebrating Walter's life will be held on Thursday, January 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. A reception for family and friends will follow. Interment at Brookside Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main St. 338-7111 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.gleneden-mb.ca.
