ROBERT SANFORD On December 2, 2005 in Victoria, BC, Bob Sanford died of cancer after a short stay in hospital. He was 77. He is survived by his wife Jocelyn; his children, Kathy, Mike, Pam, Lois and Jim; nine grandchildren; and brothers, Don of Victoria and Pete of Courtenay. Bob taught in the Department of Education at the University of Manitoba from 1970 until his retirement in 1988. Before this, he taught school in North Vancouver for many years. After retirement he and Jocelyn went to Nanjing, China, to teach on two separate occasions, 1988 to 1989 and 1994 to 1995. They spent much of their retirement at their home on Texada Island in British Columbia and lived as well in Vancouver and, for the past two years, Victoria. Bob pursued a lifelong quest for learning and adventure and he had a wide variety of interests and hobbies. These included literature, music, mountain climbing, building, boating, making juniperwood lamps and, in his later years, making stained glass art. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
