JOHANNA NAGY Johanna passed away peacefully in the presence of her family, the evening of Thursday, December 29, 2005, at Bow View Manor in Calgary. She was born on the family farm in Fulda, SK, January 9, 1916, the third of six children of Johanna and Joseph Greipl. As a young woman, Johanna worked at the St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon, where she met Michael Nagy. Together, they made their home in Wakaw, SK, took up farming as their means of livelihood, and raised a family of five. After Michael's death in 1964, Johanna lived and worked in Saskatoon for a short period after which she moved to Winnipeg where she lived and worked until 1990, when she retired and moved to Calgary. Johanna was a woman of strong religious beliefs who will be fondly remembered for her skills as an avid seamstress, for her excellent culinary talents, for her love for gardening, and especially for her love and devotion to family. She will be deeply missed by her children, Joan (Herb Gaertner), James, Graham (Linda), Adrian (Catherine Moxley), and Carolyn (Joe Watt); grandchildren, Jacqueline, Justine (Anthony Spithakis), Jeffrey, Michael Jayme, Monica and Alanna; and great-grandchild Danielle. Grieving her loss also are her sisters, Eleanor Greipl of Winnipeg and Martha Plante of Red Rock; brother Lawrence Greipl of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law Elizabeth Greipl of Winnipeg and Alsace Nagy of Wakaw; and numerous nieces and nephews. Johanna was predeceased by her husband Michael Zoltan Nagy in 1964; parents in 1974; brother Leonard in 1959; sister Hilda in 2004; daughter-in-law Dawna Nagy in 1990; parents-in-law Michael and Rose Nagy; brothers-in-law Alex Nagy, Leslie Nagy and Rene Plante; sister-in-law Margaret Nagy; niece Heather Greipl; and nephew Kenneth Joseph Plante. The family wishes to thank the special people at Eau Claire Retirement Home and Bow View Manor for their care and support over the past two years. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Catholic Church (5552 Madigan Drive N.E., Calgary, AB). Memorial donations may be made directly to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Tuberculosis Society. As a tribute to Johanna Nagy, a tree will be planted in the Heartland Tree Memorial Park, Olds.
