HERTHA ALMA WEIDNER (nee BRIESE) Hertha Alma Weidner (nee Briese) born June 8, 1911 passed away peacefully at Burnaby Hospital January 1, 2006 with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Henry, two brothers, five sisters, grandson Robbie and great-grandson Jason. Survived by her son Gordon Zoehner (Alma), daughter Sharon (Lorry), three grandsons Kerry (Jennifer), Doug (Lorraine), Paul (Nancy), three great-grandchildren Amelja, Ryan and Brendan; also by many nieces and nephews. Her life began on the family homestead in Beausejour, Manitoba. As a young woman she moved to Winnipeg where her son Gordon was born. After the Second World War she, husband Henry, son Gordon and infant daughter Sharon, moved west to Nanaimo. The family settled in the South Cambie area of Vancouver in 1950. Known as Mom, Grannie, Auntie, Hertha or June this woman of incredible strength and compassion will be greatly missed. A celebration of her life will take place on Friday, January 6 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial St., Burnaby. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
