Born: Dec 19, 1949
Date of Passing: Jan 03, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDON VERHAEGHE After a short illness, Don Verhaeghe passed away at Vernon General Hospital on January 3, 2006. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Patricia and daughter Dena, of whom he always referred to as pretty girl and sons, James (Traci) and Curtis. Don was born on December 19, 1949 in Ste. Rose, MB to his surviving parents, Yvonne and Art, siblings, Roger (Janet), Leonard (Stacey), Debbie (Jules) and Shirley (Jack), grandchildren, Tori and Garret, nieces, nephews and other family members. Don will also be missed by his in-laws, Judy and Bob. Don lived in Thompson, MB for many years and worked at Inco Mining until his retirement in 2001. Don fulfilled his dream of moving to British Columbia where he purchased a farm in Lumby and raised cattle. Don loved bowling and was actively involved in YBC for many years as a volunteer and coach. Bowling was a lifelong hobby that he shared with his sons as they were growing up and it also became a special bonding time for him and Dena. Don was a very generous and caring individual and friends and family will miss his genuine companionship and sense of humour. He was a jack-of-all-trades and gladly shared his knowledge and skills with whomever needed it. Don was taken from us too soon and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Vernon Funeral Home, 3007-28th St.

We are truly saddened by the passing of Don. He was always ready to lend a hand and we certainly shared his humour. As always the nice people leave us too soon. Glen and Pat Bond - Edmonton - Posted by: Glen Bond (Family) on: Jan 08, 2006

I was saddened to hear of Don's passing today. We worked together with the Thompson Youth Bowling Council for a goodly number of years, and I had the utmost respect for Don’s guidance, ability to oversee the program and his constant sense of fairness and particularily fun. If memory serves correctly he would have been program director when the Thompson program was among the largest in the country. His dedication and time given to the youth of Thompson will be remembered and appreciated. He was a credit to Youth Bowling and will be sadly missed. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Pat O'Callaghan (Friend) on: Jan 07, 2006
