Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY PUHACZ (TERECK) 1913 - 2005 Mary Puhacz entered into eternal rest in McCreary Personal Care Home on December 31, 2005 at the age of 92. Mary Puhacz was born November 7, 1913 to John and Maria Tereck in the district of Sunville, MB. She attended school in Budka School within the district. Following school, she moved to Winnipeg and worked as a housekeeper. She moved back from Winnipeg to Glenella, MB to work at a store. While employed at the general store, she met the love of her life, Mike Puhacz and they were married on March 5, 1937. Mike and Mary bought a farm in Alonsa district where they lived and had two children, Irene and Donald. They moved to Norgate, where they purchased a new farm. While living at Norgate, they had their third and fourth children, Kenneth and Joan. In 1949, they decided to take a new direction in their careers and purchased The Lucky Dollar grocery store in McCreary. For 22 years, Mary and Mike operated the general store, working daily serving the area. Mary was an active community member in many aspects, her favourite involvement was with the McCreary Hospital Aide. Her last years were spent as a resident in the McCreary Alonsa Personal Care Home. Mary enjoyed entertaining, gardening, dancing, painting, and her family. Mary was predeceased by her husband Mike Puhacz and daughter Irene Bishop; her siblings, Nellie Shura, Bill Tereck, Steve Tereck, Fred Tereck, Emil Tereck, and Eileen James. Left to mourn her passing is Don Puhacz (Arlene), Ken Puhacz (Lucille), Joan Duchart (Don). Her grandchildren, Joanne Pelletier, Deborah Ritz, Heather Bishop, Terri Wright, Tim Duchart, Dallas Puhacz, Gina Johansson, and Karen Puhacz. Great-grandchildren, Cam Bishop, Meagan Ritz, Mitchell and Adam Wright, Eric and Shania Bishop, and Mia Johansson. Remaining are many nieces and nephews, many who still reside in the McCreary area. Services were held on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Alonsa, MB. Donations can be made in Mary's memory to the McCreary/Alonsa Personal Care Home.
