IVY ANN RITCHIE (nee CARTER) After a life well lived, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ivy Ritchie on Thursday, December 29, 2005, at Stonewall Hospital. Born April 8, 1918, to Edwin and Eleanor Carter of Rembrandt, MB, Ivy was one of 12 children. She married Robert (Bert) Ritchie on July 1, 1942, and lived in the Argyle District where they had a mixed farm until retiring to Stonewall in 1974. Ivy enjoyed gardening and flowers especially her numerous roses until she moved to Stonewood Place in 2003. She also took pleasure in knitting, crocheting and baking in her idle time. She enjoyed socializing through her involvement in the church and seniors' clubs. She was a member of the U.C.W., the United Church, and the Rebecca Acadia Lodge No. 4. She also belonged to the Seniors Club and enjoyed the trips that were taken. Ivy was predeceased by her husband Bert (1991); and son Jackie (1948). Mom leaves to cherish her memory, her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Robert (Lorraine) Ritchie, [Cheryl (Rico), Scott and Brennin, and Darla (Lester), Jernie and Chase], Judy Naaykens [Jill (Trevor), Beth and Reid], Lloyd Ritchie, [Clint, Calin and Kim], Colleen (Alan) Oughton [Torie, Brette and Chad] as well as in-laws Sharon and Frank, brother-in-law Eric, brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Jean and numerous nieces and nephews. In Mom's 87 years she was a two-time breast cancer survivor. The family would like to express thanks to the doctors and staff of the Stonewall Hospital for the kindness and quality of care Mom received. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on January 9, 2006, at Stonewall United Church at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stonewall Hospital or Stonewall United Church, Stonewall, MB R0C 2Z0.
