MARIE FARKAS Peacefully on December 30, 2005, Marie passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 75. Marie is survived by her sister Agnes Johnson of Minn. MN; brother Nick (Lorraine) Farkas of Calgary, AB; two aunts, many nieces, nephews, cousins and one great-nephew. She was predeceased by her parents; sister Liz; and brother-in-law Del. Marie was born on June 8, 1930, in Winnipeg and attended St. John's High School. She began her employment with the Manitoba Power Commission on December 11, 1946, and retired after 43 years of service in 1989. In 1975, Marie was named Manitoba's Secretary of the Year. Marie's interests included crafts of all kinds, specializing in needlepoint, pettipoint, knitting, crocheting and sewing. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, cards, the casino and golfing, and most of all she loved to travel. Many thanks to the nurses and staff in ICU at the Grace Hospital for all their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marie's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or CancerCare Manitoba or to a charity of your choice.
