LAURIE ALEXANDER DEGRYSE (SMOKEY) 1934 - 2006 On Thursday, January 5, 2006, Laurie, aged 71, of Lac Du Bonnet, quietly passed away at the Pinawa Hospital. His mother Sarah, father George and sister Jean Miller, predeceased him. He is survived by wife Irene Zigarliski, son Brent (Shann) and Brent's current partner Marie-Christine Dauriac, daughter Debbie Clark (Randy), stepdaughter Laura Brooke (Jay), grandchildren, Aaron and Andrew Degryse, Carly Clark, Angelique Dauriac and Jayla (soon to arrive). He will be missed by all other family and friends. Smokey was a gentle man, a spouse, father, grandfather, friend, inventor, Mr. Fixit, hunter, fisherman, mechanic and was very proud of the airboat he designed and built himself. He worked at Shell Refinery for 33 years then retired to his beloved hand built home in Lac Du Bonnet. As a guitarist and singer, he was an original and last member of the band The "Cavaliers" (over 50 years). Cremation has taken place, and he will be interred in a private ceremony. Please join us for a celebration of Smokey's life on Friday, January 13 at 12:00 noon in the reception hall at Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. Donations in his memory can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
