IDA ESTHER HOLLENBERG Ida Hollenberg died peacefully on January 6, 2006 at the age of 91 at her home in Winnipeg, MB. She was born in Winnipeg on March 18, 1914. She was predeceased by her husbands, Abraham (Kelly) Cohen in 1959 and Jacob Hollenberg in 1999. She was the last surviving member of the Comisaroff family, which included nine siblings. She leaves six much-loved children from her marriages to Kelly Cohen, Francie (Kenny), Stanley (Carole) and Marion (Kenny); and Jake Hollenberg, Morley (Joan), Walter (Diana), and Dorie (Jody). She formed a strong, loving bond with each of her grandchildren, Andrew, Katie, Adam, Sidney, Abe, Elisa, Daniel, Shachar and Boaz. She was the central figure of our family, offering unwavering devotion, guidance, support, loyalty and love. Throughout her life she was an inquisitive, curious and engaged person with great compassion and involvement in the lives of those who were fortunate to know her. She took enormous pride in the achievements and accomplishments of all her children and grandchildren. During the last years of her life she benefited from the attentive, compassionate and loving care of her several caregivers, in particular, her constant companion, Tina Chen and Clemencia Alambra, as well as Lolita Giron, Rosemarie Giron, Letty Arabe, Vilma Arriola and Chion Loaog. Funeral services will be held at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 9. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ida Hollenberg can be made to the Alice and David Comisaroff Fund, in care of the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba.
