LEONIDA AGUILAR MIRANDA (nee TALUA) With deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Leonida on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital, our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, in her 77th year. She leaves to cherish her memory her partner Floriano Tonelete, brother, Severino Talua; children, Dionisio Miranda Jr. (Precy), Josie Olea (Mhar), Ariston Miranda (Trinidad), Alejandra Tibay, Violeta Napoles (Angel Jr.), Karen and Morena Miranda; grandchildren Diana, Anthony, Danica, Vina Miranda, Marlon Olea, Hadji, Flerida, Allan-John Miranda, Mohra, Dionne-May, Franz-Joseph Tibay, Nadine-Bea, Adil-Jan, Giselle-Marie Napoles. She will also be remembered by her cousin Juanita Aguilar and family (Winnipeg), Dr. Teodorico Jaceldo and family (Texas), Sabel Mazo (Nevada), Emba Talua and Amanda Sambalilo (Toronto), Tristan Talua (Chicago) and all relatives from Philippines friends. She was predeceased by her husband Dionisio Miranda Sr., sister Crisentia Urmenita, brothers; Porensio, Filimon and Peregrino Talua and Teodoro Aguilar and her son-in-law Edgardo Tibay. Leonida was born in Carigara, Leyte Philippines to Damaso Talua and Elena Aguilar, the fifth of seven children. Leonida came to Winnipeg on May 20, 1982. She has been an active member of OFSAM for 28 years. She was a board member and chairperson on food. She has been chosen as Miss Valentine in 1992. She was a member of performing arts of OFSAM. Performed folkdances at the Folklorama and to some community activities. She was a friendly woman and dressed-up smarty. Leonida enjoyed a full and rewarding life and a loving family. We are thankful for the time we were able to share with her. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff (U9) at Seven Oaks General Hospital for their compassionate care. Lamay (Viewing) will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. (midnight) on Thursday and Friday, January 12 and 13, 2006 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 445 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of Royal Canadian Mint). Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 14 at St. Edward's Roman Catholic Church, 836 Arlington St. interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, Himlayang Garden. A gathering of family and friend will follow in the Glen Lawn Reception Centre. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
