LOUISA ANN FUCHS (BROWN)
Born: Jan 20, 1917
Date of Passing: Jan 05, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOUISA ANN FUCHS (nee BROWN) Louisa Ann Fuchs died peacefully at the Selkirk District General Hospital, January 5, 2006, two weeks short of her 89th birthday. Louisa was born January 20, 1917 in Maidstone, Kent, England. Shortly after joining the British Air Force she met Ron (Rheinhold), a Canadian Airman seconded to the British Air Force. They married January 18, 1943 and came to Canada February 14, 1945. They lived in Montreal, QC, Goose Bay Labrador and Fort Churchill Manitoba before moving back to Winnipeg in 1961. Despite living most of her life in Canada, she always considered England to be her home. A meticulous person, she always took great pride in her personal appearance and in her home - especially her lawn and flowers. She was gifted at growing flowers and communicating with children who followed her like the Pied Piper. She was an intuitive and supportive mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. She had the uncanny ability to engage a total stranger in conversation and to make that person her friend. Few who met her could forget this charming 4 foot 11 bundle of wit and energy. Her memory and story telling are legendary. How those stories will be missed! She relished trips back home to Kent to see wild bluebells growing and to Lake of the Woods to hear the Loons calling. Louisa loved to laugh and sing. She believed we should not take life in general and ourselves in particular too seriously; however, she was always deeply concerned about the plight of those less privileged in our society - Children living in poverty; people who are down and out and animals in need of protection. Her favourite charities were the Winnipeg Free Press Sunshine Fund, the Salvation Army and The Winnipeg Humane Society. If friends so desire, they may consider making a donation in her memory. She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Julia Brown; her brothers Charles, Edward (Mary, deceased), Thomas (Elsie, deceased) and Allen; sister Nellie Elliot (Bill, deceased) and an infant sister Joyce. Her husband of 47 years, Rheinhold died in 1991. She is survived by her son Dr. Graham Fuchs (Karen); brothers Peter (Jean), John (Irene), David (Hillary) and Michael (Yvonne); sisters Julia (Norman, deceased), Betty (Ron, deceased) and Molly (Sid, deceased). She leaves two grandsons, David Fuchs (Tracy) and Colin Fuchs (Chantal); three great-granddaughters as well as favourite niece Amanda Hare (Nick) and numerous other nieces and nephews. Mum, Nana, Auntie Lou, we love you and we miss you. The family would like to thank all the people who have helped Mum along the way. Thanks to the Southdale Safeway staff, for watching out for her over several years, your kindnesses didn't go unnoticed. Thanks to the Windsor Park High Steppers Club for adding some joy to her life.
