He leaves to mourn his wife of 57 years, Marjorie; daughter Jo-Ann (Rodger); son Gregory (Linda); grandchildren, Tara (Dave), Christopher (Krista) and Kristin; great-granddaughter Chanelle. Also surviving are sisters Kay and Anne and numerous nieces and nephews. Born on July 3, 1925 on the family farm in Poplarfield, MB, predeceased by parents Maria and Michael; sisters Pauline, Evelyn; brothers Michael, John, Peter and Steve. As a young married couple, Harry and Marjorie moved to Toronto where Harry first worked as a brakeman for the CNR before changing to what would be a long and enjoyable career as a long haul transport owner and driver. In the early 1950's they returned to Winnipeg where Dad worked for local trucking firms including: Biggar Bros., East West, Kingsway, Great West, Building Products and Paul's Hauling. Dad proudly received numerous awards for safe driving and meritorious service including Driver of the Year. A caring and giving man, Dad always looked forward to family gatherings, visiting with friends, sharing memories and the latest news. In retirement he enjoyed long walks about the neighbourhood, his collection of country music, movies, and the hobby of wine making. We shall all miss his helping hand and generosity. Our family wishes to extend gratitude and thanks to all our family and friends for their kind wishes and support. We also thank the staff of Seven Oaks Hospital for all their efforts on Dad's behalf. Out of respect for his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Should family and friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Harry's memory to the charity of your choice.
