THOMAS DONALD TAYLOR Tom embarked on a new journey while at home surrounded by family on Sunday, January 8, 2006 at the age of 52. He fought a courageous battle with cancer. Tom was born March 23, 1953, grew up in Vancouver and spent his teenage years in Saskatoon; making his final home in Winnipeg for the last 15 years. His favourite roles in life were that of husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Julie and his three children, Gaetan, Rachelle and Nicolas. Beloved brother of Lynda (Chris) and Maureen (Dave) brother-in-law of Rose (Denis), Claude, Claire (Andre), Lise (Ross), Carole (Jean), Jocelyne (Laurent), Darquise (Francois) and Cindy. Special uncle to Daniel, Eric, Dana, Karen, Francois, Martin, Diane, Eric, Yves, Marieve, Sylvie, Raissa, Amelie, Solange, Marie-Claire, Gabriel, Vincent and Isabelle. Son-in-law to Viateur and Marcelle Voyer. He also leaves Aunt Dorothy in Vancouver and lifetime buddy Dave Symon in Saskatoon. He was predeceased by his parents Ollie (nee Kyan) (2004) and Donald Taylor (2005). He loved coaching his three children, whom he collectively coached for over 15 years in baseball and basketball. He believed in fun as the essence of truly winning, he believed in fair play in all its aspects. He passed on these beliefs to his children, nieces and nephews and all those he lovingly coached. Tom loved a challenge and chose the stock market as his profession working with many colleagues who became longtime friends. His challenge to others: To thine own self be true . He was the favourite uncle, organizing children's events at family gatherings. He was an advocate for all children, in school, in the gym and in life. What do our actions teach our children? he would challenge. He loved camping and skiing, football, baseball and basketball, rafting and adventure; and family time above all. Special thanks to the Palliative care unit and nurses Harriet and Evelyn, and Cindy who helped him face the challenge at hand. Cremation has taken place as per Tom's wishes. The celebration of his life will be held at St-Louis Centre, 445 Tissot on Sunday January 15 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Casual dress, jeans was Tom's request. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Variety's Camp Brereton, 611 Wellington, Winnipeg, MB R3M 0A7.
