PHYLLIS ROCHE It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Phyllis Roche, on Tuesday, January 10, 2006. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Darlene (Peter) Chartrand, Raymond (Brenda), Debbie (Bruce McKenzie), Dean (Paulette Gislason), Dexter (Wendy), Wanda (Doug Zubriski), Kathy (Darrell Schaak), Karen (Lonnie) Olafson and Jonas (Tanya Jonasson); grandchildren, Kelvin and James Porth, Pam (Chris) Juenke, Jason (Jen Nelson), Roxanne, Sean (Cheryl), Cam, Aubrey (David Romaniuk), Jennie (Jamie Hjorleifson), Erin, Mark, Natalea, Gage, Raith, Alexa, Darian and Kienan; great-grandchildren, Serena, Nate, Jessica, Joshua, Jayden and Owen. She also leaves behind her dear sisters, Ruby Sveinson, Gladys (Bobby) Oddleifson; brother Jack (Joyce) Monkman; sisters-in-law, Deanna and Elsie Monkman; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mom was predeceased by her ever loving husband Arthur in November 2004; her parents, Hughie and Kate Monkman; brothers, Stanford, Alfred, Tom, Lindsay, Raymond and Eddie; sisters-in-law Edith and Martha; brother-in-law Siggi Sveinson; son-in-law Alvin Bonkowski; and grandson Ian. Mom was born in Loon Straits on November 17, 1932, and lived there until her marriage to Arthur in 1949. They lived for a number of years at Granite Quarry, Winnipeg, Riverton, and then moved to the Roche homestead in Hnausa, where they raised their family. Mom loved her Rocheville and the memories it held and lived there until her passing. Mom worked at the Arborg Personal Care Home for 20 years until her retirement in 1991. She was a Sunday School teacher for a number of years and also served on the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church council. Mom was a loving and generous lady, always thinking of others. Her family will miss her more than words can say. She was always on the go and had a seemingly endless supply of energy despite her health problems in the last couple of years. She enjoyed going for evening deer rides, stopping by the lake to enjoy its surroundings, shopping at garage sales, and lately enjoyed the company of friends at the Adult Day Program at Sunrise Lodge in Arborg. Mom and Aunty Ruby enjoyed special outings together and spending quality time with each other. We are greatly appreciative of Aunty Ruby's endless attentiveness to mom during the last few weeks. We would also like to express our thanks to Dr. Chapnick, the nurses, nurses' aides and staff at the Gimli Hospital for the wonderful care given to mom during her stay there. Also a special thanks to mom's niece Janis for her loving care. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14 at 1:00 p.m. in the Riverton Community Hall, Pastor Trudy Thorarinson officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Gordie, Clarence, Davie, Michael, Tim and Daryl Monkman and Leslie Mowatt. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations in Phyllis' memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
