JOHN ROY JONES With broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of John Roy Jones on January 11, 2006 at the Deer Lodge Centre a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather and treasured friend. Roy leaves to cherish his memory his son Jim, brothers Ted (Shirley) and Bryan and sisters Barbara (Bob) Criggie and Dianna Unrau. He held close to his heart Patricia McInnis, Belinda Moline and Brenda (Jeremy) Friesen, special grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Thelma Jones, sister Marlene, brother-in-law Albert Unrau and nephew Bill Criggie. Born in Portage la Prairie on September 15, 1940, Roy spent his early childhood years on the family farm in Austin and then in Portage before moving to Winnipeg with his family in 1948. With his friendly and outgoing personality Roy found his forte as an insurance adjuster in Hamilton. Later he joined MPI in Winnipeg and then Golden Patricia Mines before he retired as an entrepreneur in 2004. Roy truly enjoyed his family, the times he spent with his many special friends, family gatherings, visits to Austin, crossword puzzles, reading or just watching a favourite TV show. Roy had a heart of gold, was always willing to listen with patience and understanding and was always willing to share. Roy touched many lives, was much loved and will always be remembered. Honorary pallbearers will be all Roy's nieces and nephews. A celebration of Roy's life will be held Friday, January 13, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance. Interment will follow in the Austin (Manitoba) Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, a contribution may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg, R3E 0B9.
