REGINALD MABB GRIFFITHS July 7, 1908 - January 11, 2006 The family of Reg is deeply saddened to announce his passing, early Wednesday morning at Tuxedo Villa. Reg was predeceased by Elsie, his loving wife of 73 years, August 9, 2004. Also his parents, Thomas (1941) Beatrice (1950); brothers George, Tommy and Jack; sisters Ivy Randall, Violet Smith and Mona Mills; grandson Warren (1984) and son-in-law Merv (1992). He will be lovingly remembered by his six children, 13 grandchildren, Dorothy (Dave), her family Lois (John), Jamie (Jackie) and Ronnie (Monique); Mae, her family Donnie, Dawna and Dena (Rick); Tom (Alice) and son Neal (Lucile); Betty, her family Debbie (Lyle), Karen and Bryon; Doreen (Peter), Marjorie (Allen) and her family Kim (Curtis), Kerry (Steve) and Pam; 19 great grandchildren; his sister-in-law Ellen Griffiths and numerous nieces and nephews. Reg was born on Balmoral Street in Winnipeg where he attended Laura Secord School. After moving to his Dad's farm at Baie St. Paul in 1916, he attended Belcourt and Allarie Schools. Reg farmed with his dad until 1931 at which time he married Elsie Paton. They took over the family farm after their marriage in June, where they remained until 1987, upon which time they moved to Oakville, MB. They enjoyed 10 years with old and new friends. In 1997, they moved to Charleswood to be nearer to their family. Reg was an active community member; at one time he was pound keeper and also path master. He was a school trustee for Baie St. Paul West, which all his children attended. He was on the Poplar Point Pool Elevator Board for 16 years, belonged to the Poplar Point Curling Club and was Secretary- Treasurer for St. Paul's Anglican Church for twenty years. He was a member of the Farm Forum and during the war years, took part in the Red Cross Whist Drive Club. He was also a member of the Poplar Point Horticultural Society and the Belcourt Community Club. The family wishes to thank the staff at Tuxedo Villa for all the care and compassion given Dad during the last 18 months of his life. Reg was loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed. Our dad was a loving and caring man who took such pride in his appearance and walked so tall all of his life. We all enjoyed the cribbage games and snacks, which he so ably played until December 23rd of 2005. We will miss you Dad. Reg's life will be celebrated in a service officiated by Noreen Ponton, January 16, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Viewing for friends at 6:30 p.m., service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. After Elsie passed away her ashes were kept with loving care at Doreen and Peter's. In keeping with Mum and Dad's wishes, interment for both will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at Poplar Point Cemetery.
