Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROLAND LEONHARD WERNER It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic accidental passing of Roland Leonhard Werner, aged 51, on Saturday, January 7, 2006. He was predeceased by his parents, Willy (1990) and Helen Werner (1999). Left to cherish Roland's memory is his family in Germany, godparents Gustie and Steve Baumstark, godson Michael Daikow Jr, and dearest friend, Lori Rotchik. Other friends mourning his loss include Lyle Porayko, Walter Swickis, Dave Scanlon, Peter Danchuk, Gary MacKay and family, the Diakow family and many others. An only child, Roland was born in Winnipeg on November 11, 1954. As a boy, he loved playing hockey and spending time at the family cottage in Sunset Beach, which eventually became his year round residence for the past seven years. A skilled mason, Roland took great pride in his trade and was employed by Heymann's Construction. He delighted in many aspects of home renovation and repair. Among Roland's pleasures were travelling, tending his mother's flowerbeds, boat rides and the beach. A self-taught man, he was passionate about his computer and digital camera. He loved his cats dearly; first Sparky, and recently Willy, who also perished due to the fire. I am very sad to read about this tragic accident. His parents were in correspondence with my parents and also Roland. Somehow my grandparents were relatives to his family. I am sad that I passed the chance to meet Roland and his parents. Seems he was was a great person. I am very sad. I wish you well in a better place.
