Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRAY GEORGE Suddenly on January 11, 2006 Raymond (Ray) George passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 86. Ray was predeceased by his wife of 58 years Ann in 1996. He is survived by his sons, Raymond (Adeline), Henry (Nadine), Peter (Nancy) and Reg. (Sherry). Also grandchildren, Donna, Derrick, Karen, Michael, Charlene, Ryan, Cherisse, Stephen, Jenny and Matthew. Also eight great-grandchildren. Ray was born in Birmingham, England on October 29, 1919 and married Ann in April 1939. When the Second World War started he went to France with the Royal Artillery as part of the B.E.F. and returned from Dunkirk in 1940. He was then posted to Italy with R.E.M.E where he remained for the rest of the war and returned home in 1946. He immigrated to Canada in 1956 with his family and worked at Delro Industries until his retirement in 1984. He joined the Canadian Militia R.C.E.M.E. in 1960 and served until 1969 with the rank of Master Warrant Officer. He was active with the A.N.A.F. Veterans Unit 283 where he served two terms as Unit President and two terms as Provincial President. He was also active with the Crestview Community Club soccer program with his team winning the Provincial Championship. The family would like to thank Bruce Labonte, Katherine Cameron and the staff at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, Dr. Karen Moran De Muller, the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Services and the staff of the Grace Hospital Emergency department for their efforts on behalf of our father. A memorial service will be held at A.N.A.F Unit 283 Clubroom, 3584 Portage Ave. at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 16. A private interment will take place following the service at Chapel Lawn Cemetery.
