MARIO DEICONT It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, and nonno Mario, January 12, 2006 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital. Mario was born in Fregona, Treviso, Italy on July 31, 1929. He was predeceased by his wife and partner in life Ilda (Montesanto), mother Augusta, father Pasquale and brother Gino. Mario is survived by his children, Denis (Judi) of Burlington, ON; daughter Anita (Stephen Gazzola) of Guelph, ON; and Marco (Tamara) of Winnipeg; and his grandchildren, Michael, Jon, Danielle, Jill, Mackenzie and Jayne. His sisters, Maria, Luigia and Francesca, and his brothers, Renzo and Pasquale along with many relatives in Canada and afar also survive him. Mario served throughout Italy with the 8th Reggimento Alpini from 1949-1951, and spent two years working in France prior to coming to Canada in 1954. After marrying Ilda in 1956, Mario commenced a 34-year career with Supercrete/Lafarge Ltd. retiring as Superintendent of Structural and Architectural Precast. Following retirement, Mario and Ilda spent many happy years at the cottage in Valhalla Beach where he continued to enjoy a number of his hobbies which included hunting and creating concrete landscape ornaments for family and friends. Prayers will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home on Sunday, January 15 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 16 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church, 341 Munroe Ave. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the attentive staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital, 5th floor, Unit 4. Your patience and care is much appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mario's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 9Z9.
