JUNE ZORNICK (LAVALLEE) May 25, 1931 - January 13, 2006 Peacefully, with her family by her side at the St. Boniface Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, June Zornick passed away. After a courageous battle with cancer, we lost our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend on January 13, 2006. June was predeceased by her loving husband of 25 years Alex (March 2003), her parents, three brothers Eric, Dougy and Ken, two sisters Jackie and Laurie. June is survived by her four children Derek (Lucette) Lavallee of Winnipeg, Janice (Wayne) Lavallee-Peppar of New Westminster, BC, Diana (Matt) Pickard of San Larenzo, California and Gary Lavallee of Hatfield, England, her two sisters Betty Fernie of Winnipeg, and Dorothy Kreviak of Toronto; grandchildren Chris, Trisha, Scott, Suzanne, and Christine, and numerous great-grandchildren. Born in Winnipeg, May 25, 1931, Mom grew up in the West End. She was an avid speed skater, and baked the best chocolate cake in the world! Married in 1952, she raised her brood in the North End while working at the Dog 'n' Suz and the local A P store. The family moved to Richmond, BC in 1974, where she met and married Alex in 1977. They moved back to Winnipeg in 1981 to enjoy their retirement. Mom devoted her whole life to her four children, and grandkids. We will all miss her. Thanks to the staff of Concordia Hospital, Oncology Department, and to all the staff at Cancer Care. A warm thank you to all the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Thanks to neighbours and friends who were there for Mom, after Alex's passing. A very warm thanks to Aunt Dorothy who stayed with, and helped care for Mom during her last few months. Cremation has taken place and at Mom's request, no formal service will be held. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations can be made to the Humane Society or CancerCare would be appreciated if you so desire. Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM 220 Hespeler @ Henderson Hwy. 668-3151
