F. ROSS TAYLOR Born March 23, 1918 in Hoyt, NB, died suddenly on January 13, 2006. He is survived by two sons from a previous marriage, Danny and Tony McCracken; his wife of 57 years Vi; sons Richard and Greg; daughter Sandi; son-in-law Gary Fehr; and four grandchildren, Marilee, Nathan, Elena and Robin. As a youth Ross worked as a stream driver in New Brunswick before enlisting in the Canadian Army at the beginning of the Second World War. He served with the military for 26 years, then moved on to teaching at Tec Voc high school. He developed the first dental assistant training course in Manitoba in 1967. He retired from teaching in 1980. Ross was an avid sportsman, playing baseball as a youth, hockey with the Montreal Canadians farm team prior to the war and won the Manitoba senior water ski competitions several times when in his 40s. Ross also enjoyed curling and was active in the Thistle Curling Club for many years. Ross approached all his endeavours with humour, enthusiasm and commitment. His storytelling and practical joking was enjoyed by family and friends. Ross's warm spirit, gentle touch, strength and integrity will be dearly missed by all. A memorial service will be held at St. Margaret's Church (Ethelbert Street and Westminster Avenue) on Thursday, January 19 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CNIB.
