HEULA CECELIA WREN (nee SCULLY) 1918 - 2006 With profound sorrow we announce the loss of our precious Mom and Nana on January 13, 2006 at St. Boniface Hospital. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Kathy (Dave) Hill, Chris (Lori), Jamie (Alice) and Susie (Rick) Thurmeier; grandchildren, David, Deborah, Christopher, Lisa, Michelle, Cecilia (Cory Rudd), Sarah, Katy and James and great-grandson Tehvv. She is also survived by her brothers, Kevin (Cecile) Scully and Gerald Scully; dear cousins, Terry (Kay) Gaffney and Joanna (Louis) Sirois, and many nieces and nephews. Heula was predeceased by her beloved husband Chris; her twin brother Hughie, and her sister Mary DeMarco. Heula grew up in Sudbury, ON. After completing her education, she worked as a nurse in Ontario, Quebec and in Bermuda during the Second World War. In 1946, she married Chris Wren in Timmins, ON. In 1950, they returned to his hometown of Winnipeg where she stayed home to care for her family. When her children were older, Heula upgraded her training and worked as an Intensive Care nurse at Grace Hospital. Heula was a person who always placed the needs of others ahead of her own. She was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, sister and friend. Nana was especially nurturing to and supportive of her grandchildren. She was vibrant, open, positive and original. Her many interests included Toastmistress Club, bridge, studying Spanish and snooker. The family would like to thank Dr. Jack Rusen, Dr. Virginia Fraser, Dr. Jana Pilkey, Dr. Akra, Palliative Care Visiting Nurse Jennifer, the staff of A3 at Health Sciences Centre and the staff of 8A at St. Boniface Hospital, especially Laura, Alex, Terry and Collette for their compassion and professionalism.
