IDA TORBET 1920 - 2006 Ida went home on January 13, 2006 in the loving arms of her daughter Karen and her granddaughter Cielle. Her soul is free and its true beauty can now shine. She is also survived by her son-in-law John and his family; brother-in-laws George (Elsie); Bill (Nora); nephews Ralph (Carol), Bruce, Peter (Linda); nieces Leslie (Greg), Susan (Eric), Pam (Don), Vicki; goddaughters Susan and Sandy; and many friends of all ages - a woman who truly made solid and loyal friendships at every stage of her life, that lasted forever. She joined her husband Jim; granddaughter Kara; sister Florence (Ralph); mother Ethel; father Robert and lifetime friends Eileen, Audrey (Lloyd), Phyllis (Pat) and Irene (Tom). Ida's life sparkled with love for her daughter and granddaughter, with whom she had such a close and special bond. Ida made every occasion special. Thoughtfulness, honesty, loyalty, love and a strong belief in God were her way of life and she lived life to the fullest. As she became more dependent, her life lost some luster, although she fought the adversities, she finally became tired and was ready to move on. She was an amazing person, who will carry on in this life in the image of her daughter and granddaughter, as well as in the influence she had on others. Heartfelt thanks to all those who cared for her and her family - the staff of Misericordia, Seven Oaks, Fred Douglas and of course all her friends. A special thank you to Dr. Wilson. Also to Dr. Kroeker and Dr. Galbraith who so genuinely cared for her over the years. Mom - I miss you so much - but you were ready. Thanks for giving us the strength to let you go. You will be in our hearts and a part of us forever. We love you to infinity. Funeral service Thursday, January 19 at 2:00 p.m., Kildonan United Church, 187 Kilbride, officiated by Rev. E. Gould. Interment and reception to follow at Glen Eden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kildonan United Church or a charity of choice.
