PHILIP MARSINIUK 1912 - 2006 It is with great sadness that we announce, after a brief illness, the passing of Philip Marsiniuk on January 15, 2006 at the Arborg and District Health Centre, at the age of 93 years. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of over 65 years, Ella; daughter Diane and husband Walter Yarish of Edmonton; son Brian and wife Florrie of Calgary; three granddaughters, Leanne (Scott) Bayley of Edmonton, Krista (Scott) Bax of Vancouver and Isabella Marsin of Calgary; great-grandson Hunter Bayley of Edmonton; brother Joe of Australia and sister Helen Panevas of Arborg. He was predeceased by his parents John and Pauline; brothers, Adolf, Adam, Nick, Peter and Frank as well as sister Elsie Dubitz of Belmont. Philip was born on June 1, 1912 in Okno, MB to Pauline and John Marciniuk. He spent most of his life on the farm in Okno, sharing the work with his brothers, Frank, and Adam. Philip supported his passion for farming with his first business cutting logs in the winter and then jobs as a welder, auto mechanic, school custodian, electrician and plumber. Philip applied all these skills to design, build, wire and plumb his own home. Philip took extra pride in his self taught skills doing each job to the best of his ability. He will be remembered by neighbours and relatives for always being there to fix farm equipment, automobiles or wiring and plumbing their homes. Although Philip retired from farming in 1995, he was always proud to be a farmer. He always enjoyed visiting and visits from his many relatives across Canada. Philip was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and he will be missed. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, Arborg, on Friday, January 20 at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Harry Chuckry will officiate with interment to follow at the Okno Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gordon Zinkowski, Nick Timchishen, Kevin Timchishen, Michael Zinkowski, Tom Walchuk, Ted Timchishen. The family would like to thank Dr. Beukes and the nurses at the Arborg and District Health Centre for the special care and love extended by the staff of Selkirk and Arborg Personal Care Centres. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Okno Community Cemetery. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
