Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELENA BATOR It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and babcia Helena Bator on Monday, January 16, 2005 at the age of 79 years. Helena was predeceased by her husband Antoni in 1987; her parents, Franciszka and Piotr; her brother Jozef; and sister Zofia. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lucy Greniuk and husband Lesek; grandchildren, Dorota, Monika, Krzysiu. She also leaves to mourn, her sisters, Genia (Grzegorz Liusz) and Karolina (Henryk Wiktorowicz) and numerous nieces, nephews, close family and friends. Helena was born January 25, 1926 in Ostrow, Poland. When the Second World War broke out the Soviet Union invaded Eastern Poland deporting Helena with her family to Siberia. When Germany invaded the Soviet Union amnesty was given to all Polish deportees. At that time Helena joined the Polish Army. She was stationed in Palestine then England where she was with the Polish Air Squadron for the Royal Air Force working as an Airplane Technician. In April 1949 she immigrated to Canada, eventually meeting her husband Antoni and marrying him June 30 1951. Helena was a longtime parishioner of Holy Ghost Church. A member of the Polish Combatants Association No. 13 and the Catholic Women's League. A heartfelt thank you to the nurses, staff and doctors at Misericordia Health Centre, Cornish 6 for all the loving care through the years and especially her last few days. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 21 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. with an Oblate Father presiding.
