Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN DAVID STRIKE September 24, 1931 - January 16, 2006 Peacefully, after a brief illness, John passed away with his family by his side. John's memory will be cherished by his loving wife and best friend Joan of 53 years; daughter Kim Sabourin (Henri); son Craig; and grandchildren Kyle, Mandy and Hayley; brother Peter Strykiwsky (Jean) of British Columbia; sister Mary Calsbeck (John), his many nieces and nephews and his faithful companion Bonnie. John was predeceased by his mother Pauline, brother Billie, sister-in-law Doris and brothers-in-law Kenny and Eddy. John was born in Hyas, SK and at the age of 17, made Winnipeg his home. After 37 years with Universal Printers, he retired in September 1987, at which time he resided in Seddon's Corner. John's passion was gardening. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed. The family would like to thank all the staff at Beausejour Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion. At John's request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
