NELLIE BAYRAK 1926 - 2006 On January 17, 2006, Nellie Bayrak completed her journey into God's opened arms. She passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital with her loving family at her side. Nellie was predeceased by her husband Paul in May 2000, her sister Bernice Welichka and her parents, John and Ann Chmara. Left to cherish her memory are her 3 children; Ron (Colleen) Bayrak, Diane (Mark) Brooker, Brenda (Brad) Ambrosie; 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Marge Dorozynski; brother-in-law John Welichka; many nieces, nephews and friends. Nellie was born on April 19, 1926 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She married Paul on November 6, 1943 and raised their family in North Kildonan. Mom enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, berry picking, quiet moments at the lake and time spent with friends. She got pleasure from cooking for her family and no one ever went home hungry or empty handed. Nellie was a member of St. Michael's UCWL, the Friendly Settlers Seniors Club and St. Michael's Perogy Pinchers. She was also a past member of St. Anne's Ukrainian Catholic Parish and UCWL. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and health care staff at the St. Boniface Hospital. Special thanks to Unit 5B and the Palliative Care Unit. During her lengthy hospital stay, we met many wonderful people, from the nursing staff to her roommates and all others who had become our family and friends. Prayers will be sung Thursday, January 19 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church on 400 Day St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, January 20 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Michael's with Rt.
