She graduated from nursing school at St. Boniface Hospital in 1934 and subsequently received a nursing position in St. Paul, MN. She was soon followed by her long-time sweetheart, Russell Turner, and they were married in St. Paul in 1939, living there until 1946, at which time they returned to Winnipeg as owners and operators of Roto-Rooter Sewer and Drain Service Ltd., until 1969, when they sold the business to their capable foreman, Jerry Schoffer. They later took up residence in Gimli, and Winnipeg Beach and vacationed in the winter months in Lake Havasu, AZ. In 2002, they moved back to Winnipeg to reside in Donwood Manor.
