R. E. (BOB) HELGESON The family of R. E. (Bob) Helgeson is sad to announce the passing of Bob at Misericordia Health Centre, on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 after a brief battle with cancer. Bob is survived by his wife Donna, son Brent (Judi) of Setting Lake, MB, granddaughter Aurielle of British Columbia, daughter Barbara Glover (Lance) and grandson Robert of Selkirk, MB and brother Bill (Dorothy) of Brandon, MB and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Saskatoon, Bob grew up in small towns across Manitoba and Ontario going where his father's job with CN would take them. As a young man he worked with General Motors in Brandon when he met a beautiful young nurse on the hill. They were married for 50 years this past August 13. Bob's working career changed in 1956 when he nestled in with the Manitoba Hydro family. He helped put the northern communities on the map managing the stores department for Hydro and living in the little towns like Kelsey, Grand Rapids, Selkirk and Gillam. On return to Winnipeg in 1972, he continued to work for Hydro retiring in 1988. Bob and Donna vacationed in the winter months in Mexico until last year. In the summer he toiled lovingly in his backyard garden that he enjoyed with his wife. He watched for weeds and animals vigilantly even this last summer and enjoyed sharing the produce with family and neighbours. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at CancerCare, GH3 at Health Sciences Centre and Cornish 2 at Misericordia Health Centre for all the kind care Bob received during his stay with them as well as the support that was there for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. We will miss you Papa THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 MCGILLIVRAY BLVD. (BETWEEN PEMBINA WAVERLEY) 925-1120
