ANN SHAPKIN (nee LEGEBOKOFF) It is with great sorrow that the family announces the peaceful passing of Ann, age 89, at the St. Boniface Hospital on Monday, January 16, 2006, following a short illness. She was born January 16, 1917, in Pelly, SK and later married Alex where they farmed in nearby Whitebeach, SK. Ann and Alex moved to Marchand, MB in 1948 to operate the local hotel and in 1950 moved to Winnipeg to raise their family. Ann is predeceased by husband Alex; daughter Vivian Dunlap; and son Jerry. Left to remember and treasure her memory are son, Harry and partner Madeleine Beaudoin, granddaughter Loni, Janet Shapkin and grandsons, Ken and Randy with wife Kimberly, great-grandson Zaakhary, great-granddaughter Aubrie and granddaughter Angela Gregoire and husband Claude; sister Lucy Wolchuk of St. Catherine's ON, as well cousins, nieces, nephews and relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Mom was adored for her kind and giving nature and visitors to the house rarely were able to depart without a hot meal regardless of the time of day. Her first love was to her family but she had a deep passion for fishing and the outdoors. She will be remembered and missed by all whom had the blessing of being part of her life. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 23 at 1:00 p.m. in the Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 Broadway - 783-7211
