Bert will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 25 years Tammy and their son Nolan (Brooke); brothers, Carl (Debbie), Laverne (Margaret), Eugene (Rachel); and his sisters, Barb (Ron), Angeline (Albert) and Veronica; mother-in-law Lillian; brothers-in-law, David (Connie), Kelly (Andrea); sisters-in-law, Gail (Mike), Debbie (Bill), and many nephews, nieces and friends. His passion was spending time with his family and friends at their cabin at Wallace Lake. With the tunes cranked, the sauna heating up, and the briquettes ready, you can bet he was spending time teaching kids how to catch and clean those fresh walleyes, and then cleaning up their dads at crib and horseshoes. He truly enjoyed making people laugh and have a good time. Bert was a strong volunteer. He was a dedicated hockey coach, and an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, notably in their dart league. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 21 at 1:00 p.m. at the Notre Dame du Laus Roman Catholic Church in Powerview, MB with Rev. Fr. James Gray presiding. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bert's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. I was wondering about how my old friends are doing now as I will be sixty this year. I am saddened to find that Albert passed away and at such a young age. He was a good friend of mine when I lived in P.A. from 1970-1972. I remember playing shiny in his back yard where he lived in the west flat. Hunting rabbits at the Little Red River Park, catching pigeons on the bridge crossing the river and playing pool at Owl Billiards. I remember eating bannock and rabbit for the first time that his mom prepared. She was such a nice lady and was always so hospitable. I didn't know Albert had so many siblings. I only new Veronica. I have great memories of my days in P.A. and Albert being a part of them. My deepest belated condolence to Alberts family. He sounded like a great person as an adult as he was when we were just kids. - Posted by: Brad Martin (Old friend in Prince Albert) on: Feb 22, 2017
