DOREEN BERNICE MITCHELL (nee DAWSON) After a brief illness with cancer, Doreen passed away with her loving family by her side on January 18, 2006 at the Victoria Hospital. Doreen was predeceased by her mother Edith Mabel (nee Redgrave), father Arthur Ernest, brothers, Frankie, Ernie, and Percy, sisters, Hilda Fincham and Winifred Derrett. Doreen is survived by her husband Roy; daughters, Linda Hall and Carol Kyliuk; son-in-law Ernie; sister Grace (Jim) Webb; grand-children, Dawn Hall, Brad (Rickie) Hall, and Dr. Ryan Kyliuk, as well as great-grandchildren, Ashlen Hall Hoes, Ezra and Gavriel Hall. Doreen was born in Winnipeg on January 28, 1919 and grew up in Fort Rouge. She married the love of her life, Roy on May 2, 1942. They spent their winters in St. Petersburg, Florida since 1981 and summers at their cabin at Royal Lake. Doreen was a loving and faithful daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the caregiver and caretaker of all those close to her. Her family was the dedication and purpose of her life. She will be sadly missed. According to Doreen's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations if desired, in Doreen's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away, Our hearts were almost broken, As you fought so hard to stay; But when we saw you sleeping, So peaceful and free of pain, We could not wish you back To suffer that again.
