CORY KILVERT Cory Kilvert, (also known as: The Old Man of the Mountain), passed away peacefully Sunday, January 15, 2006 in Manitou, MB at age 91. Athlete, airman, fisherman, writer, photographer - Cory's passion for the outdoors became his life's journey. Born in Winnipeg and schooled in Oakville, ON, he made Manitoba his lifelong home. During the Second World War he served overseas with the RCAF in photo reconnaissance. In the fifties he operated the Northland Camp on Reed Lake in Northern Manitoba hosting fishing enthusiasts from around North America. Cory was a reporter with The Winnipeg Free Press where he was best known for his weekly Ski Tracks column. This was followed by a position with Manitoba Tourism. Throughout his life Cory was an avid skier and ardent promoter of skiing - especially in Manitoba. Cory will be missed by his devoted sons David and Ian; daughter Helen Osenga; daughters-in-law, Krista and Dawn; beloved grandchildren Megan and Cameron and many friends. Thank you to the staff at Pembina Manitou Health Centre for their wonderful care over the past three years. A celebration of Cory's life is planned for a later date.

Cory did an amazing job of keeping the skiing community informed and together in the 60's and 70's in Winnipeg. Almost every skier in Manitoba read "Ski Track" every Friday night.
