CLARENCE (SONNY) JOHN CAPNER March 04, 1927 - January 18, 2006 Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather (Papa), passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Clarence is survived by his ever-loving wife Claire; children, Carl (Tammy), Barry (Shelley), Rhonda (Butch), Jackie (Sid), Sheila (Bill), Wanda (Stefan); grandchildren, Chantel, Christy, Chad, Darren, Michael, Danielle, Jessica, Ryan, T.J., Meagan, Stefan, Jenna, Dallas and Taylor. He was predeceased by his mother Delia, father John, step-father William, sisters, Helen, Mary, Clara, Katie and step-brother James. Clarence (Sonny) was born and raised in Abbeyville, MB. He later met his loving wife, Claire and shared almost 49 years of marriage. They were married at Sacre-Couer Church on July 13, 1957. Together they raised 6 children, instilling the importance of family values. After moving to Winnipeg he was employed at Subterranean Construction, one of the many projects he worked on was the construction of the Eaton's Parkade. In 1955, he began working at Canada Packers in St. Boniface, where he worked for 34 yrs, before retiring in 1989. Some of his hobbies included, camping, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed watching hockey, football and wrestling, and enjoyed listening to country music. Clarence loved to watch his grandchildren playing sports and attended many of their sporting events. But most of all Clarence loved his grandchildren to be around him as often as possible. Clarence will also be sadly missed by all who enjoyed his quick wit and humour. Our family would like to extend a Special Thank You to the staff on the 4th Flr, Unit 10, as well as the Dialysis Unit of the Seven Oaks Hospital for their special care and compassion in helping our dad/husband. Prayers will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. on Monday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Alphonsus Church, (Munroe and Brazier) on Tuesday, January 24 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens at 4477 Main St. Pallbearers are Brian Juer Jr., Chantel Capner, Darren and Michael Capner, Ryan and Travis (T.J.) Bondarenko. Honorary Pallbearers are Allan (Butch) Robertson, Stefan Thordarson, Sid McEwan, William Bondarenko, Tammy Capner, and Shelley Malbranck. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association at 102-310 Broadway or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba at 200-6 Donald St. It broke our hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone. A part of us went with you, The day God took you home. A million times we'll miss you, A million times we'll cry... If love could have saved you, You would have never died. Now to your resting place we visit, The flowers are placed with care. No one knows the heartache, As we turn and leave you there. No farewells were spoken, No time to say good-bye. You were gone before we knew it, And God only knows why. If tears could build a stairway And heartaches make a lane, We'd walk a path to heaven, And bring you back again. Your Loving wife Claire and Family. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
